Our Team

The team behind the Centre currently comprises of 3 Directors, 8 Research Scholars, and 1 Technical Editor.

Directors

Dr. Amit George practices as an Advocate before the High Court of Delhi. He has appeared as an arguing counsel, and as an amicus curiae, in numerous matters before various Courts and statutory Tribunals, resulting in reported judgments in diverse areas of law. Dr. George frequently appears before various arbitral tribunals, in domestic and international arbitrations. He has been appointed as an arbitrator on various occasions by the High Court of Delhi, the Delhi International Arbitration Centre and the Mumbai Centre for International Arbitration. 

Dr. George is the author of the book titled ‘Minority Rights in a Cosmopolitan World’ [Media House: 2018], and frequently contributes opinion pieces and articles on issues of contemporary legal relevance. He has delivered guest lectures at various academies and law schools across India, including the National Judicial Academy, Bhopal and the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie, amongst others. 

Dr. George read law at NALSAR, Hyderabad, and went on to earn a LL.M. [with Merit] from the University of London International Programmes with a specialization in International Dispute Resolution, and a Ph.D. in Law from the National Law University, Delhi

Ms. Shreya Parikh graduated from NALSAR University of Law and went on to pursue her Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Commercial Law from the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom. She began her litigation career at M/s. Bharucha & Partners, Mumbai, however, she soon realized that her passion lay in arguing matters and joined the Chambers of Senior Counsel Shiraz Rustomjee as a Counsel. 

Now an independent Counsel, she is engaged in diverse areas of general commercial law, securities law, arbitration, and public interest law. She appears before various fora, including the Supreme Court, Bombay High Court, Securities Appellate Tribunal, and NCLT. She has represented clients in matters involving corporate governance, insolvency, real estate, insurance, foreign exchange violations, contractual disputes, etc. 

Empaneled with the Indian Financial Regulator – Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), she often represents it in significant cases involving complex financial fraud and on constitutional law issues. On the arbitration front, she has appeared before tribunals comprising retired Supreme Court and High Court judges and in arbitration related litigation. She is also passionate about environmental issues and often uses the tool of litigation to try and precipitate change – on mangrove conservation, urban planning, heritage conservation, protection of green (open) spaces, etc. 

She is a part of the Senior Editorial Board of the Constitutional Law Blog at Government Law College and is a member of the Steering Committee of the Pledge India group. Outside of law, she takes every opportunity to spend time in nature and is a qualified scuba diver. She loves exploring off beat destinations and eateries. She needs her regular fix of culture and art – be it music, theatre or heritage walks.

Ms. Chand Chopra is an Advocate practicing in the High Court of Delhi and is a qualified Solicitor of England & Wales. She graduated top of her class from NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad in the year 2012. From NALSAR, Ms. Chopra went on to work as a Trainee Solicitor at Allen & Overy’s London and Prague offices for two years, with one year dedicated entirely to International Arbitration.

A few years after her return to India, Ms. Chopra set up her own chamber practice in Delhi. She is currently the Head of Chambers, Chambers of Chand Chopra. She regularly practices and advises clients on civil and commercial disputes. She also represents PSUs and various other government organizations on arbitration matters and constitutional issues. Ms. Chopra regularly appears and argues matters as lead counsel in the Hon’ble Supreme Court, the Hon’ble High Court of Delhi and various arbitral tribunals. The Hon’ble High Court of Delhi has appointed Ms. Chopra as a Sole Arbitrator in various matters.

Ms. Chopra is a Research Associate for the Delhi High Court Bar Association’s quarterly magazine, Quarterly Bar Review and frequently speaks and writes on topics of interest to the legal community.  Apart from the law which is her primary passion, Ms. Chopra is an avid badminton player and a poet.
